Job Description

Job Summary We are looking for an experienced Factory Manager to manage the complete factory operations of a furniture manufacturing unit. Key Responsibilities A. Factory Operations & Production Management - Manage and supervise the complete day-to-day operations of the furniture factory. - Plan, organize, and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly production activities. - Ensure production targets are achieved within the specified timelines and budgets. - Coordinate all production sections, including cutting, CNC routing, edge banding, drilling, assembly, finishing, quality checking, packing, and dispatch. - Monitor production progress and resolve operational bottlenecks. - Ensure production activities follow approved drawings, BOMs, cut lists, and specifications. - Improve workflow, machine utilization, labour productivity, and overall factory efficiency. B. Manpower & Team Management - Manage production managers, supervisors, machine operators, carpenters, helpers, and other factory staff. - Allocate manpower according to production requirements and employee skills. - Monitor employee performance, productivity, attendance, and discipline. - Train and develop employees to improve their technical skills and efficiency. - Conduct regular production meetings and review departmental performance. - Maintain a safe, disciplined, and productive working environment. C. Quality Control - Ensure furniture products meet defined quality standards and customer specifications. - Monitor product quality at every manufacturing stage. - Reduce defects, rejection, rework, and customer complaints. - Coordinate with the QC team to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. - Ensure finished products meet approved design, dimensions, finishing, and hardware requirements. D. Material & Inventory Management - Coordinate with Purchase, Stores, Planning, and Production teams to ensure timely availability of materials. - Monitor the consumption of MDF, plywood, particle board, HDHMR, laminates, veneers, hardware, and other production materials. - Control material wastage and improve material utilization. - Maintain proper inventory levels and prevent stock shortages or excess inventory. - Ensure proper storage, handling, and movement of raw materials and finished goods. E. Machinery & Maintenance - Ensure proper utilization and maintenance of production machinery. - Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance activities. - Minimize machine downtime and production interruptions. - Monitor the performance of CNC routers, panel saws, beam saws, edge banding machines, multiboring machines, presses, and other woodworking equipment. - Ensure machines are operated safely and maintained according to prescribed procedures. F. Cost Control & Productivity Improvement - Monitor manufacturing costs, labour costs, material consumption, and overheads. - Implement measures to reduce production costs without compromising quality. - Improve productivity through better planning, process improvement, and waste reduction. - Introduce 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement practices where appropriate. - Review factory performance against production targets and operating budgets. G. Dispatch & Delivery Management - Coordinate with Planning, Quality, Packing, Logistics, and Installation teams. - Ensure finished furniture is packed correctly and dispatched on schedule. - Monitor order completion and delivery commitments. - Resolve production-related issues affecting customer delivery timelines. - Ensure proper documentation and tracking of finished goods. H. Safety & Compliance - Ensure compliance with factory safety procedures and company policies. - Maintain housekeeping standards across the factory. - Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment and machine safety guards. - Conduct safety inspections and implement corrective measures. - Maintain production, maintenance, quality, and other operational records as required.

Requirements

Technical Knowledge Required - Strong knowledge of modular furniture and panel furniture manufacturing. - Understanding of production planning, BOM, cut lists, and furniture drawings. - Knowledge of CNC routing, panel saw/beam saw cutting, edge banding, drilling, assembly, and finishing processes. - Understanding of furniture materials, hardware, laminates, veneers, and surface finishes. - Knowledge of production costing, material optimization, and inventory control. - Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems, Excel, and production reporting. - Knowledge of quality management, preventive maintenance, and workplace safety. Qualification & Experience Education: Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Industrial Engineering, Furniture Technology, or a related field preferred. Experience: 8–15 years of experience in manufacturing, preferably in modular furniture, panel furniture, or sofa manufacturing, including significant experience managing factory operations. Preferred Candidate: Someone who has independently handled a furniture manufacturing factory and managed multiple production departments, manpower, machinery, quality, and dispatch.
