Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Remove and replace old fabric, padding, and cushioning from furniture pieces, ensuring careful handling of materials.
• Measure, cut, and sew fabrics for upholstery projects, ensuring proper fit and alignment.
• Reupholster furniture, including sofas, chairs, and other items, using a variety of fabrics, leathers, and materials to meet design and quality standards.
• Repair and replace furniture springs, cushioning, and other structural components to restore furniture to like-new condition.
• Apply new fabric and finishes to the furniture, ensuring a high-quality and aesthetically pleasing final product.
• Work with a variety of upholstery tools, including staple guns, sewing machines, and hand tools, to achieve precise and durable upholstery results.
• Follow specific design specifications, ensuring the furniture meets both functional and aesthetic requirements.
• Inspect completed pieces to ensure they meet company quality standards, making adjustments as necessary.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace, adhering to safety protocols while handling tools and materials.
• Keep track of materials used and maintain accurate records of work completed.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proven experience as an Upholsterer or in a similar role in furniture manufacturing or repair.
• Strong knowledge of upholstery materials, techniques, and tools.
• Ability to work with a variety of fabrics, leather, and padding materials.
• Proficiency in using upholstery tools such as staple guns, sewing machines, and hand tools.
• Attention to detail and a strong focus on producing high-quality, durable, and aesthetically pleasing work.
• Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to make repairs and adjustments to furniture as needed.
• Ability to follow instructions, blueprints, and design specifications accurately.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects at once.
• Knowledge of furniture repair and restoration techniques is a plus.
